Karen brings over 15 years of professional grooming experience to Beacon Barkers. She is a highly skilled and patient groomer, known for her confident handling and calm approach. Karen enjoys working with all breeds and takes pride in delivering high-quality grooms tailored to each dog’s individual needs.

Liv

Liv is City & Guilds qualified with over three years of professional grooming experience. She is confident handling dogs of all sizes and is known for her calm, reassuring approach, helping even anxious dogs feel comfortable and relaxed in the salon. She has a particular soft spot for grooming Bichon Frises and, outside of work, has three dogs of her own - including her newest addition, Hanni the puppy!

Rachel

Rachel began her pet care journey over five years ago, gaining experience across multiple salons where she refined her grooming skills and techniques. She is City & Guilds qualified, and is patient, adaptable, and confident grooming dogs of all breeds and temperaments. Having owned spaniels all her life, she brings a strong practical understanding of dogs both in and out of the salon.

We offer complete care for every coat and breed, from puppies through to specialist hand stripping:

  • Full Groom — bath, ear clean, nails, brush & comb, clip or de-shed, scissor tidy and fragrance.
  • Bath & Tidy — bath, nails, ear clean, brush & comb, hygiene, feet & face tidy and fragrance.
  • Puppy Groom (up to 6 months) — bath, nails, face, feet & hygiene trim and fragrance.
  • Hand Strip — a two-appointment service: the first for hand strip & scissor tidy, the second for bath, ear clean, nails and fragrance.

We also offer spa treatments, a standard bath, nail trims and Emmi-Pet ultrasonic teeth cleaning — more on those below.

Yes — from toy breeds to giant breeds, and all coat types in between. Final styling is always tailored to your dog’s coat, size and temperament, which we’ll discuss with you at consultation.

Our Grooming Services

A complete top-to-tail treatment: bath, ear clean, nail trim, brush & comb, clip or de-shed, scissor tidy and a finishing fragrance. It’s our most thorough groom and keeps coats healthy and comfortable.

A Bath & Tidy keeps your dog clean and neat without a full clip or de-shed — it includes a bath, nails, ear clean, brush & comb, hygiene, and a feet & face tidy with fragrance. A Full Groom goes further with a complete clip or de-shed and scissor finish, ideal for coats that need more maintenance.

Yes. Our Puppy Groom is designed for dogs up to 6 months and includes a bath, nails, face, feet & hygiene trim and fragrance. It’s a gentle introduction that helps puppies get used to the salon in a calm, positive way.

Hand stripping is a specialist technique for certain wiry-coated breeds that maintains coat texture and health. It’s carried out over two appointments — the first for the hand strip and scissor tidy, and the second for a bath, ear clean, nails and fragrance.

It’s our Post Kennel Pamper Package — the perfect way to send your dog home from boarding refreshed and looking their best (£15). It includes:

The more often your dog visits, the more you save — our Gold members enjoy our lowest monthly fee as a thank you for their loyalty.

For regular grooming, yes — a Gold member on a medium breed saves around £100 a year, and all tiers combine priority booking with discounts and a free Smart ID tag. The right tier depends on how often your dog is groomed, so we’re happy to help you work out which makes most sense.

Booking & What to Expect

You can book quickly and easily online. Book your groom here, or get in touch with the team if you’d like to talk through the best option for your dog first.

Our grooming and pet services run Monday to Saturday, 8:30am – 5:00pm. If you need a particular day or time, book ahead where you can, as popular slots fill up.

Yes, and they’re in good hands. With multiple groomers available we can give extra time and a gentler, more supported experience to dogs who need it. Our team is known for a calm, reassuring approach that helps even anxious dogs feel comfortable in the salon. For teeth cleaning, the silent Emmi-Pet system is especially suited to nervous or senior dogs.

It depends on breed and coat type — some dogs benefit from grooming every 4 to 8 weeks, while others need less. Regular grooming keeps coats healthy and mat-free and makes each visit more relaxed. We’re happy to recommend a schedule, and our membership tiers are built around 4, 6 and 8-week routines.
